Breathing Better with Inhalers

Asthma is considered to be one of the most common lung related diseases today. And due to the demand in market asthma treatment albuterol comes in many different forms. Albuterol comes in many different forms. Some are inhaled into the lungs, while others are taken by mouth (swallowed or orally) and work through the bloodstream.. Examples of inhaled type are Albuterol, Proventil, Ventolin, Proair HFA, Proventil HFA. And an example of swallowed type treatment asthma albuterol is Vospire.

Most Common Types of Inhalers

Proventil is commonly used to prevent or treat airway spasms in people with asthma or certain other conditions. The medication comes in the form of an inhaler and is part of a class of drugs called beta-adrenergic receptor agonists. It stimulates beta receptors in the body, which helps the muscles around the airways relax and allows more air to get into and through the lungs. Possible side effects include shakiness, nausea, and nervousness.

Ventolin is another drug which comes in a form of an inhaler. This drug also prevents airway spasms like Proventil but Ventolin is mainly for preventing asthma attacks induced by exercise. Some of the people with asthma take it on a regular basis to help prevent attacks from occurring. This drug is also a beta-adrenergic receptor agonist just like the previous drug mentioned. Beta-adrenergic receptors helps the body in relaxing the muscles making the airways open up for air to flow.

Although Ventolin relieves the patient of asthma, side effects must also be considered. Side effects include coughing, respiratory infections and throat irritation.

Ventolin is considered to be replaced by Generic Albuterol Inhaler considered to be its equivalent. Albuterol inhalers are prescription medications used to treat asthma and other similar lung problems. Albuterol is part of a class of asthma drugs known as beta-adrenergic receptor agonists, or beta agonists for short. There are many different albuterol inhalers. Some are equivalent to each other, while others are not.

Older Types of Inhalers

Older inhalers are made using chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) as the propellants, while newer inhalers use hydrofluoroalkane (HFA), an environmentally friendly propellant. The older inhalers include, Proventil , Ventolin (no longer made). Proair windy weather shuttlecock is used to treat or prevent airway spasms, as well as to prevent exercise-induced asthma attacks.

The drug works by opening up the airways and allowing more air to get into and through the lungs. Some people take Proair HFA only when they need it (during an asthma attack), while others take it regularly to help prevent attacks. Side effects can include an irritated throat, headaches, and runny nose.

Proventil HFA is an environmentally friendly inhaler that contains albuterol. It can be used to prevent or treat bronchospasms that occur in people with asthma, chronic bronchitis, or emphysema. The medication causes the muscles around airways to relax, which opens up the airways. Some side effects that may occur include upper respiratory tract infections, nausea, and vomiting.

Asthma treatment albuterol is considered type of medicine for asthma because of its availability to the market and lesser side effects had been proven to show up with the use of albuterol.

Dehumidifier for Healthier Air

Dampness could be referred to as little wetness while humidity means damp air. Atmospheric air in our surrounding contains moisture and if moisture comes in contact with a cold surface or objects forms puddles of water. These can be seen clearly with the aid of a glass of water. If some cold glass of water is poured, and left on any surface for some period of time, puddles of water will be rediscovered round the glass and on the surface too. This is as a result of the inability of air to hold its moisture. Since this scenario is caused when moisture comes in contact with cold surfaces due to high humidity, a small handheld steam cleaner has been designed to reduce the level of humidity by absorbing, cooling and heating moisturiser to prevent the adverse effects of humidity in our homes. Dehumidifier is of great importance.

Dehumidifier for Healthier Air at Home

An air conditioner is also a very good moisture cooling machine because it helps in absorbing moisture from home by its cold coils and cooling it into droplets of water usually fund at the back of the machine. But a dehumidifying machine are sometimes used in place of an air conditioner since they posses both the cold and heat coil for absorbing, cooling and heating up moisture to its original temperature. While these machines are often used to reduce moisture, there are various types of dehumidifying machines, which include the compressor-based dehumidifying machine/ the desiccant and the pettier. There are also small machine recommended types.

Basements are used in the storage of condensed and heated moisture in form of water. The basement because of its water storage ability most time is always dirty and untidy due to the fact that since the heated moisture has long been left in the basement, which leads to piling up of dirt. If the basement is left untidy different odors will engulf and the growth of some unwanted organism will be enhanced.

In order to prevent this negative effect of storage, the basement must be cleaned and dried when due to avoid the adverse effect of odor which could be of ham to those who are allergic to bad odor such as asthmatic patient. While the mildew could cause damages to the lungs, preventive measures should be taken to avoid unnecessary storage of water. Drainages should not be allowed to flow into the basement, the basement could also be waterproofed to add to this preventive measure. Mildew could be removed through bleaching and owners should try not to paint over mildew, when cleaning basement cleaners should try and put on protection such as hand gloves and glasses to prevent infection.

The place used in storing the retained liquidity of moisture is called the basement. Moisture having gone through the due process of cooling and heating by a dehumidifying machine could be freed into the basement for storage. But due to the tendency of water if kept unclean in a place for a long period of time gets dirty and appear stinking odors in basement are inevitable but evitable if kept dry.

Another example of a dehumidifying machine is the desiccant dehumidifying Machine which has some similarities with compressor based but has an absorbing material in place of the cold coil.

Water collected from dehumidifying implements can be used in various ways. In order to ensure proper reuse, the water collected can be used in steam irons and can also be used in flushing. Tap waters are not as good as water collected from the dehumidifying machine for steam irons since mineral materials are likely to build up in tap water and could easily damage the equipment.

Asthma Treatment for Children

Avoiding Asthma Attacks Using Breathing Tests

Asthma is a long-lasting condition where the airways get narrowed. Sometimes, unbeknownst to an asthmatic child, his or her airways are already narrowing and having increased inflammation each day. The child may feel fine. While there is no shortness of breath or wheezing, the child is actually prone to an asthma attack. An exposure to an irritant can quickly progress into an asthma episode.

Breathing tests are helpful in determining the risk for an asthma attack. Breathing tests measure the airflow, specifically volume and speed, as it is exhaled. Allergists and pulmonologists use a spirometer, a machine that measures the amount of air that flows in and out of the lungs.

For convenience, a peak flow meter or PFM can be kept handy at home. A PFM is a small hand-held device used in monitoring a persons ability to breathe out air. It can measure and detect airway obstruction, if there is one, or inflammation. Drops in peak flow readings indicate that there is some degree of obstruction in the bronchi. In some cases, a PFM can detect inflammation a few days before the asthma attack.

Asthma Treatment for Children

Warning signs are to be watched out for. Sometimes the inflammation causes a little discomfort in the child and should not be taken lightly. The asthmatic child may have changes in behavior, mood, appearance, or breathing. These warning signs may display as early as a day before the asthma attack. Sometimes, these warning signs do not lead to an asthma attack at all.

Along with learning to control an asthma attack, detecting early warning signs can take a bit of time to really master. Detection of early warning signs can also help when the child grows older as they would know what they are to do when they’re by themselves. When older children, especially teenagers, learn to sense a little change in themselves, they can adjust their own medication in accordance with their asthma management plan.

Dirty and untidy basement water can also lead to the growth of mildew on the surface of the wall or on the floor. Since mildew can grow on nearly all organic matters, it is necessary to prevent their growth by cleaning, emptying and drying basement water. Odor can also be prevented by drying. Other sources of water must also be checked to avoid their unnecessary inflow into the basement. Basement can also be waterproofed for preventive purposes.

Dieting in Moderation and Quitting Smoking

Dieting in Moderation and Quitting Smoking

A great Diet plan must include exercise. Great idea right? It could have been, however, my friend didn’t want to start by walking – she wanted to run. She chose unrealistic workout routines and naturally, she found them too difficult and quit right away. In fact, she also injured herself by choosing such a difficult routine and was even less mobile than before.

“Moderation, moderation, moderation.” This is what my friend was lacking in her first plan. Her plan simply wasn’t realistic based on her current level of fitness, regular wine drinking habit, and smoking habit. I then helped her to see why her plan although well-meant, was too rigid and moderation was not addressed at all. As predicted, the diet quickly dissolved and she gained even more weight.

The first thing she should have done was consider how removing cigarettes all of a sudden would affect her. I explained she was already ahead of the game, having gone through this once before. She new “cold turkey” wasn’t for her. Research has shown that choosing a date is important, which she did, but she never made any attempt to reduce her cigarette intake gradually before that date. An end date is good but she needed to have smaller goals of reducing her intake as well.

Backtracking While Dieting

What happened if she did backtrack? My friend had no support system in place – no one to tell her she isn’t a complete failure and that she doesn’t have to give up. My advice was to find a “buddy” to quit with. Diet and healthy soup makers– this approach also needed to change. I suggested that she first see her doctor to discuss all three things she wanted to accomplish – stop smoking, diet, exercise. Her doctor could recommend a diet plan she could stick with as well as ascertain her current fitness level.

Her doctor would have also been able to perform a physical to see if she was prepared for an exercise program and if so, at what level? She could also join a gym and let the professionals there, who already have the expertise, design a program for her. I was able to show my friend that breaking down her large goal of overall health into smaller, achievable goals was the best solution for her.

My friend was able to see that she would be able to tie her smaller goals together and I assured her that if she worked hard but in moderation, she would see results. In the end, she chose my Weight Loss Breeze Program and has seen amazing results. The program is all natural and the exercises easy enough to accommodate even beginners.

MendatHome Supports College Students

Have you ever been so ill you can’t manage to get out of bed? As a college student, I can’t count the number of times I wish there had been someone (e.g. my mom) who could bring me some chicken noodle soup or diagnose what in the world was wrong with me, as I usually was sick enough to be curled into a ball and drooling on my pillow. I couldn’t even bring myself to get out of bed to use the community bathrooms, so the idea of actually leaving my building to go the campus health center (and to then still not be excused from class) was abhorrent.

Well, people, Mend is here to save the day. Mend is a group of medical practitioners who are actually willing to enter your home and cure you of all your gross symptoms. It is possibly the best thing to happen to college students…ever.

I took the liberty of testing the app and taking photos along the way, just so that no one gets confused. The first step is downloading the app. Just search “Mend” in the iPhone App Store, and it’s the second result.

The next step is equally easy: read about why you ought to be using Mend, and then input some basic information like your email address and a password to register. There are some standard terms to accept and a privacy policy to read, and then you’re well on your way to being well!

Next up: adding card information. Because insurance companies really seem to like making paying for medical care difficult, Mend accepts all major credit cards and HSA and FSA cards rather than insurance. They will, of course, send along an invoice for post-facto filing, if you’d prefer.

Important fact! Mend will treat you wherever you are! Spending your lunch break at the sorority house? Sprained your ankle at the Dedman Center? Not a problem for the Mend Team. The Mend app allows you to input multiple locations. Add your dorm, the gym or your favorite coffee shop. The Mend Van is equipped with everything they need.

After selecting your location, a screen will pop up with all the available appointment slots for today and tomorrow. Just pick one (any time 8-8 Monday through Friday and 11-6:30 on weekends) and hit “schedule visit,” and you’re golden!imageIMG_4768

You’ll see a photo of the attending medical professional (so that you know what the person coming into your house looks like), and at this point, you’ll get a phone call about your symptoms. You tell them what’s wrong with you, and then you wait. That’s it. You wait in your bed with your soup and your Netflix and then the provider will show up at your door at the exact time you requested, ready to take care of you.

At this point, I’ll discuss my own visit a little more specifically. The practitioner was friendly and talkative, and the visit was never awkward or weird. This particular practitioner had over 13 years of medical experience, and the entire thing was sorted quickly. A short medical exam later, prescriptions were written and filled and voila! I feel better already.

When I hear the words “house call,” I automatically think of my grandfather making calls in a small living room full of lace doilies that smells faintly of cat urine. I’m happy to report that my Mend house call was absolutely nothing like that, and that the problems I had were cleared up quickly and professionally. Mend providers carry a lot of supplies in that van—everything except imaging equipment, in fact—and can all write prescriptions and have them delivered to your house for free.

I’m a little bit upset that Mend wasn’t around just a few years ago when I got the stomach flu, two colds, and pink eye (in both eyes… neat) in the same year, but I’m happy that they’re here to take care of me now.
